Into My Heart An Air That Kills
-By Alfred Edward Housman

This poem, taken from A. E. Housman's collection The Shropshire Lad, explores the idea of nostalgia and growing old, and was the inspiration for the tragic and touching Dennis Potter plan, Blue Remembered Hills.

Into My Heart An Air That Kills

Into my heart an air that kills

From yon far county blows;

What are those blue remembered hills,

What spires, what farms are those?

That is the land of lost content,

I see it shining plain,

The happy highways where I went

And cannot come again.
